Our black yellow moon jar can serve as a bud vase or decorative piece in any rustic home. Created by combining two thrown bowls, the top section inverts to give this vase a one of a kind shape.
Handmade in San Francisco.
The black yellow moon jar is a fun piece because it happened as an accident. The original plan was to create a regular moon jar. To do that you create two nearly identical bowls so that you can stack and combine the two pieces into one. Once I did this step I decided to trim more to give it a more desired shape. At some point I went too thin or the weight toward the middle became too heavy. As a result the middle of the black yellow moon jar caved in to give this unique shape. Typically you can achieve this shape by following the same process but having no opening. The trapped air will allow you to make this shape and once it has dried you can trim an opening. Nonetheless, the final outcome was a success.
